Frequently Asked Blepharoplasty Questions
The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery
How long will the results of my blepharoplasty last?
Like many other procedures, a blepharoplasty will turn back the clock, but will not stop the natural aging process. So, a blepharoplasty done today should make you look significantly more youthful going forward, but the aging process will continue at its normal rate. Some patients may choose to have another procedure in the future, and many do not.
What type of procedure is right for me?
If you have sagging and drooping mostly above the eye, an upper lid blepharoplasty may be the right solution for you. If you have bags under your eyes, however, you may choose lower lid blepharoplasty. If you have some combination of the two, and would like to rejuvenate your entire eye area, you may choose to have both procedures done at one time.
How long is the healing process?
The length of the healing process depends on the type of surgery you've had, and on individual physiological factors, such as health, age, and your overall healing abilities. In most cases, the recovery process should be well under way, if not complete, in about one to two weeks following surgery.
Will blepharoplasty get rid of my crow's feet?
No. Blepharoplasty is designed to lift and repair sagging or puffy eyelids, not to address wrinkling at the corners of the eyes.
Will I have scarring?
Depending on the type of surgery, you should have either no visible scarring at all, or very minimal scarring along the incision site.
