Lip Augmentation in Chicago and Arlington Heights, IL
Just like wrinkles, sagging and thinning lips are a tale-tell sign of aging. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John A. Kotis helps Chicago, Arlington Heights and residents in surrounding communities fight the signs of aging with dermal fillers and injectable treatment options including lip augmentation.
What is a Non-Surgical Lip Augmentation?
Lip augmentation with dermal fillers plumps the lips for months at a time, for a gentle, natural result. An ideal method for enhancing existing facial features in both, men and women, lip augmentation uses natural or synthetic fillers to increase the volume of your lips for months at a time. Lip Implants and other facial surgery solutions may provide a more permanent solution. However, if you are self-conscious about thinning lips or desire a more robust, yet natural appearing lip profile, lip augmentation with dermal fillers may be right for you. Lip augmentation is considered by individuals with one or more of the following:
- Lips that disappear when smiling
- Naturally thin or poorly defined lips
- Thinning or sagging lips as a result of aging
- Imbalance between more prominent facial features and the lips
- Types of Non-Surgical Lip Augmentation Treatments
Non-surgical lip augmentation can be performed with a variety of dermal fillers and injectables. A consultation with Dr. Kotis will provide a better understanding of your desired results so the right option can be chosen with you, not for you. Some minimally invasive options for lip augmentation include:
Restylane®Silk – Patients may opt for Restylane® Silk injections for lip enhancement. Restylane® Silk, a gel product, is placed into the lip for added fullness and volume. Administered with an ultrafine needle, Restylane® Silk allows Dr. Kotis to accurately focus on select lip regions.
Fat Transfer – Fat tissue can be grafted from areas for lip enhancement. Tissue from more abundant areas like the stomach, thighs or buttocks, can be transferred to the face for desired effects.
Juvederm® XC – Juvederm® XC can also be used for lip enhancement. Patients can choose Juvederm® XC for additional plumpness in the lip area. Like Restylane® Silk, Juvederm® XC contains HA or hyaluronic acid. This ingredient promotes collagen production and volume once injected into the skin. Patients can expect a fuller lip line after one session of Juvederm® XC.
Belotero® – Belotero® is yet another injectable option for lip enhancement. For more mild-to-severe volume enhancement, Dr. Kotis may inject the gel into the lip regions. Belotero® can be used for more noticeable lip desires.
Those desiring a fuller lip line may opt for a lip enhancement procedure. Thin, narrow lips can become plumper and more noticeable after a lip enhancement procedure.
Recovery Time for Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation with dermal fillers is a safe and quick procedure performed in Dr. Kotis’s Chicago and Arlington Heights offices. Recovery time is minimal after injections, with most clients returning to daily activities within two to five days. Lips may feel fuller than expected after injection due to swelling.
Once swelling subsides, clients are able to fully enjoy their new, fuller and shapelier lips.
