Otoplasty

The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery

Otoplasty, also referred to as ear pinning, is a procedure in which a cosmetic surgeon makes large and/or protruding ears appear less prominent by removing a small amount of cartilage.

Because the ears have grown almost to their full adult size by about age four, otoplasty is the most common cosmetic surgery performed on children.

Many parents have questions about whether otoplasty is right for their children, and as with almost any other cosmetic procedure, the answer depends on the individual circumstances. If both the parent and child are comfortable with the procedure, and both have realistic expectations of the results, otoplasty may be right for them.

If you have any further questions about otoplasty, what it can do, and whether it's appropriate for you or your child, contact Dr. Kotis' offices today to arrange for a consultation.
