What is involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chicago-based, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John A. Kotis accesses the fatty deposits in the lower eyelid from the interior side of the eyelid.\u00a0 This is performed through a subciliary incision placed immediately below the lower lid lashes. Once inside the interior side of the eyelid, Dr. John Kotis removes the fatty pads.\u00a0 This requires the expertise of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon because the amount of fat removed must be controlled and selected in order to accomplish a natural appearance for eye rejuvenation. \u00a0The incision is hidden by the lower lid eyelashes and is not visible once it has healed.<\/p>\n

What to expect during surgery<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scarless lower eyelid surgery is a short, painless procedure that is done under a local anesthetic.\u00a0 Local anesthesia is used for increased safety and is perfect for those patients who cannot or do not want sedation or general anesthesia.\u00a0 The surgery takes approximately one hour and an additional \u00bd hour for recovery.<\/p>\n

What to expect after surgery<\/strong><\/p>\n

All patients return to the office and see Dr. John A. Kotis for a post-operative check the day after any Facial\u00a0surgery.\u00a0 Patients will experience some swelling and possibly some bruising that should subside within a few days and in some cases up to a week. \u00a0There is no suture removal.<\/p>\n
