Whether you enjoy early morning yoga before work, a brisk jog in the afternoon, or a rigorous weight lifting routine every night at the gym, exercise is a great way to stay in shape and relieve stress. Naturally, after an <a href=\"\/body\/arm-lift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arm lift<\/a> or brachioplasty procedure, many of our patients in Chicago and Arlington, Illinois, are eager to return to their normal routine and continue exercising.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, you will have to wait different lengths of time to resume different types of exercise as your body recovers from your <a href=\"\/body\/body-contouring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">body contouring<\/a> procedure. For the best results, you should always consult your plastic surgeon to get clearance before resuming exercise. Dr. Kotis cares deeply for his patients and wants to make sure they see the results they desire. Here are some general tips for our patients\u2019 favorite types of exercise.<\/p>\n<h2>Light Activity Like Walking and Jogging<\/h2>\n<p>While you will be eager to get back into your normal exercise routine, it is important to let your body recover for the first few weeks after your <a href=\"\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plastic surgery<\/a> procedure. Otherwise, you risk injury or complications. Light activity such as walking and jogging can usually be resume after three or four weeks, so you can look forward to a brisk walk around the neighborhood a few weeks after your procedure.<\/p>\n<h2>Vigorous Cardio Like Distance Running<\/h2>\n<p>While cardio requires more of your legs, you will still need to wait to resume vigorous exercise like running. As you pump your arms, you may risk pain and injury. For this reason, we recommend our patients wait between four and six weeks to begin vigorous cardio. Dr. Kotis encourages his patients to visit with him and receive clearance before resuming their regular exercise routine.<\/p>\n<h2>Weightlifting, Stretching, and Yoga<\/h2>\n<p>Exercises like yoga and weightlifting require more from your arms. For this reason, it is best to wait until your arms are completely healed before returning to yoga class or the weight rack at the gym.
