What a Salicylic Peel?
A salicylic peel is a medium depth peel with the active ingredient beta hydroxyl that penetrates below the top layer of your skin to remedy uneven skin textures caused by acne, oil or aging. Salicylic peels work best when used as a part of a skin care regimen with successive treatments every two to three months.

Salicylic Peels differ from Glycolic Peels?
Salicylic and glycolic peels are safe to use in a combined skin care treatment plan to treat both oily skin, uneven skin tones and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Glycolic peels are created with water-soluble alpha hydroxyl acid, as well as with beta hydroxyl acid, which disintegrates in oil. It is this small difference that allows salicylic acid to clear out pores, treat acne and dry out naturally oily skin.

During Your Salicylic Peel Treatment
On your treatment day, a friendly medical staff member of Dr. Kotis’s office will prepare your skin for treatment with a light cleanser. The salicylic peel is then applied to the treatment area and removed after a period of time. Treatments usually take between 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients can return to their normal routine once the treatment is complete. No recovery time is needed.
Recovery After a Salicylic Peel
While no recovery time is needed, your skin will need some TLC for best results. After the treatment, it is best to stay out of direct sunlight for at least 48 hours. Dr. Kotis may give you some healing cream to apply to your skin to prevent dryness. Be sure to follow Dr. Kotis’s aftercare instructions for best results.
