For many patients, the neck lift can be an alternative to a full facelift. It has the power to address wrinkles, creasing and sagging skin along the jawline, restoring in a contoured and youthful overall appearance.
Reduce a double or triple chin

Minimize bands across the neck
Smooth sun or wind damaged neck skin
Correct a “turkey wattle” neck
Reduce heavy jowls along the jawline
During your initial consultation at our office, Dr. Kotis will closely examine your neck skin and help you determine if this procedure is right for you.
In general, you will be considered a candidate if you:
Have skin with enough elasticity to withstand stretching during the procedure
Are in your 40s, 50s or 60s (though older and younger patients may benefit)
Are in good overall health
Subtle, natural-looking results
Safe procedure with very few risks
Virtually imperceptible post-surgical scarring
Long-lasting results that can endure for years
Dr. Kotis will perform your neck lift under general anesthesia, which means you will be completely unconscious throughout the experience. The entire process will take about two hours.
To begin, Dr. Kotis will create incisions behind the ears and under the chin. Through those openings, he will remove excess fat via surgical excision or gentle liposuction. From there, he will tighten lax muscles and, in some cases, may remove a section of the platysma muscle.
Once the underlying structures of your neck have been toned and reshaped, he will gently drape your skin over the new contours, close the incisions with care, and trim away any excess tissue.
As with all cosmetic procedures, there is a considerable recovery associated with a neck lift.
Dr. Kotis and his team will review the details of your care with you prior to surgery, but here is a general overview of what to expect:
Arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home from surgery
Someone should stay with you at home for at least 24 hours, as movement will be difficult
Bruising, swelling and discomfort are common during the initial days of recovery
You will need to spend the first few days of your recovery in bed
Avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks
Neck lift results improve with time, as post-surgical swelling subsides and your skin conforms to your new contours. In general, our patients see their optimal results within about six months and enjoy the benefits of their neck lift for up to ten years.
