What is involved?

This is performed through a subciliary incision placed immediately below the lower lid lashes. Once inside the interior side of the eyelid, Dr. John Kotis removes the fatty pads. This requires the expertise of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon because the amount of fat removed must be controlled and selected in order to accomplish a natural appearance for eye rejuvenation. The incision is hidden by the lower lid eyelashes and is not visible once it has healed.
What to expect during surgery
Scarless lower eyelid surgery is a short, painless procedure that is done under a local anesthetic. Local anesthesia is used for increased safety and is perfect for those patients who cannot or do not want sedation or general anesthesia. The surgery takes approximately one hour and an additional ½ hour for recovery.
What to expect after surgery
All patients return to the office and see Dr. John A. Kotis for a post-operative check the day after any Facial surgery. Patients will experience some swelling and possibly some bruising that should subside within a few days and in some cases up to a week. There is no suture removal.
