Breast reduction is a popular procedure for women whose breasts are large and heavy enough to cause them psychological or physical discomfort. This procedure, also referred to as reduction mammaplasty, minimizes the size of the breast overall, and creates more attractive, firmer proportions.

The Procedure
The breast reduction procedure involves making an anchor-shaped incision, which goes along the underside of the breast, in the mammary crease, and extends up to the nipple and around the areola (the darkened area of skin surrounding the nipple. The surgeon then removes excess fat, skin, and tissue, and repositions the nipple higher up on the newly reshaped breast).
