Mommy Makeover FAQs
Becoming a mother is one of life’s most rewarding journeys. The miracle of life taking place within you creates a deep bond between you and your child. There’s no doubt that your baby is one of the most precious gifts you will ever hold. Sadly, you may not have been prepared for the physical changes that your baby would bring about in your body. It is possible that when you look in the mirror, you may no longer recognize yourself.
Even if you are back to (or below) your pre-pregnancy weight, your body may have shifted, and your abdomen may have lost the toned, taut appearance you once enjoyed. Even with proper diet and exercise, pregnancy can leave your breasts and abdomen sagging and loose – changing your body’s curves in a less-than-desirable way. That doesn’t mean, however, that it has to stay that way. A mommy makeover can help you reclaim the body you once had and restore your feeling of self-confidence in your body image.
What IS a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is a series of procedures designed to help you reclaim your youthful curves post-pregnancy. From body contouring to breast enhancement, skin rejuvenation to liposuction and everything in between, each mommy makeover is as unique as you.
What Procedures are Included?
A mommy makeover is a unique combination of procedures designed to rejuvenate your body after pregnancy. These procedures can include:
- Breast enhancement including breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reduction
- Liposuction
- Tummy tuck
- Post-pregnancy skincare
Who is a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Women who are in good overall health and are interested in rejuvenating multiple areas of their bodies following childbirth are perfect candidates for a mommy makeover. No matter how much time has passed since your pregnancy, it is never too late to love your body again. There are a few things to keep in mind as you make your decision to have a mommy makeover. These include:
- Do you want to have more children? If so, it may be better to wait until you’re finished.
- Are you finished breastfeeding? Breast augmentation procedures are best performed either three months following childbirth or three months after you have stopped breastfeeding.
- Have you reached a healthy weight which you can maintain? Keeping the new contours of your body will be easiest if you have reached a weight with which you are comfortable.
What Determines Whether or not I need Lipo or a Tummy Tuck with a Mommy Makeover?
Abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck, can repair muscles of the abdomen which have separated, remove loose or sagging skin, and remove excess fat and tissue which have accumulated in the abdomen. If your midsection is drooping or sagging following your pregnancy, a tummy tuck can restore the flat tummy and smooth skin you once had.
If you are looking to remove excess fat deposits that have settled under the skin, usually in the abdomen, hips, buttocks, or thighs, then liposuction is an ideal option.
In some mommy makeovers, these procedures are performed together to sculpt and contour the curves you desire.
How Long is the Recovery from a Mommy Makeover?
The recovery time required following a mommy makeover is determined by which procedures you choose to undergo in your custom procedure. In most cases, you will be able to resume exercise and strenuous activities within four to six weeks of a full mommy makeover.
